Agnotology: The Surge

Hear none, Say none, See none
Word creation has a rich history in the English language realm.

Take the word "Agnotology" for instance.

Agnotology "is the study of culturally-induced ignorance or doubt, particularly the publication of inaccurate or misleading scientific data" (Wikipedia; see also Agnotology ... Or Is It Agnoiology?).

Regular readers of Dredd Blog know that this blog is more severe, in some of its criticism of the creators and promoters of perverted information, than many other observers are.

Clearly, Dredd Blog has been known to voice sharp criticism of some of them, especially the military, the dirty oil industry, and the mainstream media (see e.g. MOMCOM's Mass Suicide - Murder Pact).

Nevertheless, Dredd Blog has also said, in so many words, that the epidemic of perverted information in the United States is, in some respects, a result of benign failures within our various educational realms (see a discussion in the post The Failure of Applied American Epistemology).

However, let me be clear that I attribute the surge in perverted information to a deliberate function of massive propaganda engines, directed by the powers that be.

See Myth Addiction Is The Establishment's LSD, The Deceit Business, Blind Willie McTell News, Exceptional American Propaganda Inspired NAZI Goebbels, and Why The Right-Wing is Anti-Education, as examples of Dredd Blog posts on this subject.

Whatever the cause the results are undeniable, which indicate that some ignorance is so deep-seated that mere education is not sufficient to dislodge it.

MOMCOM's Mass Suicide & Murder Pact - 2

The Meme Complex
In the first post of this series, I indicated that Dredd Blog is trying to get bloggers around the blogosphere to focus on the reality that ecocide is not a "business failure", a "government failure", or a "policy failure."

I mean in the ultimate sense.

Rather, it is a mental illness of the suicidal, homicidal maniac type, and it should, therefore, be considered or analyzed as a massive case of criminal insanity.

I also mentioned that the widespread failure to analyze the phenomenon, in that context, has many observers perplexed; but at the same time, it is more and more common for scientists, educators, and investigative reporters to use terms once reserved for what we thought were "wild eyed fanatics" who only wanted to scare us with apocalyptic notions.

For example, consider some of that language used by a world renowned scholar:
Consequences are many. It is, however, very important to bear in mind that -- unfortunately -- none lifts the two dark clouds that hover over all consideration of global order: nuclear war and environmental catastrophe, both literally threatening the decent survival of the species.
(Losing The World II, emphasis added; cf Losing The World I). In the final analysis, life on Earth is primarily endangered by the three entities from which MOMCOM is made.

Those three entities are:
1) the military, along with the weapons of mass destruction it has fostered,
2) the oil industry, along with the addiction to dirty energy it has fostered, and
3) the main stream media, along with the propaganda engines it has fostered.
All three of those sub-entities within MOMCOM are essentially composed of huge, international corporations, inextricably combined with governmental agencies, to the point that they overlap so seamlessly that there are no rough boundaries to easily discern.

Rather, there are a plethora of smooth connections that renders but one fabric, one entity cut from that singular fabric, which is MOMCOM.

For example, the mainstream media is owned by large for-profit corporations who attend governmental "news" conferences, who receive tons of information from the government, all designed by the Bernays system to guide them toward a common purpose:
The Bush administration turned the U.S. military into a global propaganda machine ...
(Blind Willie McTell News, quoting head of the Associated Press). This is not new, in fact we were warned about it by the founders:
Of all the enemies to public liberty war ... comprises and develops the germ of every other [enemy to public liberty] ... In war ... all the means of seducing the minds ... are added to those of subduing the force ... of the people.
(ibid, Blind Willie McTell News, quoting James Madison). McTell News is linked, at its invisible seams, not only with government, but also with a vast deceitful business empire, yes, inextricably linked and bound by the advertising dollar:
"... One of the most important comments on deceit, I think, was made by Adam Smith. He pointed out that a major goal of business is to deceive and oppress the public.

And one of the striking features of the modern period is the institutionalization of that process, so that we now have huge industries deceiving the public — and they're very conscious about it, the public relations industry. Interestingly, this developed in the freest countries—in Britain and the US — roughly around time of WWI, when it was recognized that enough freedom had been won that people could no longer be controlled by force. So modes of deception and manipulation had to be developed in order to keep them under control
"
(The Deceit Business, quoting Noam Chomsky). In addition to promoting wars, spying on Americans, and a general military philosophy, the media is preaching, more and more, that global warming induced climate change is a hoax.

When one thinks of how that would work within an individual mind, we could call it self deceit, and if it should result in that individual's death, we would call it suicidal delusion.

Going further, if that individual was going to "take someone else with them", it would be considered delusion leading toward a suicide-murder.

There is little if any doubt that this is happening on a massive scale, because well respected world observers have said so in no uncertain terms:
This has resulted, at best, in an overblown exaltation of the realm of opinion, combined with an intense diminution of the realm of knowledge; while at worst it has resulted in widespread social detachment from reality, in varying degrees (i.e. various degrees of social dementia; Dr. Zbigniew Brzezinski, in his book Strategic Vision, focusing on this failing aspect of American society, writes: "its populace is self-deluded and, frankly, ignorant about the rest of the world").
(The Failure of Applied American Epistemology, emphasis added). In the next post of this series we will follow one concrete example of this delusional infection spreading within a group, a concrete example I briefly mentioned in the first post.

First, we will start at the beginning, within the brain of Jim Jones, who craftily infected the brains of his close circle of operatives, but not stopping there, we will follow Jones and his operatives as they eventually infect the brains of "the congregation."

"The congregation", whom Jones and his operatives convinced that Jones was a god, and more, that his operatives were angelic.

Finally, we will follow the saga of the mental and emotional degeneration of Jones and his operatives, all the way down to the time when they committed the horrid mass suicide-murder of themselves, and "the congregation."

A time that reminds me of the lyric in Bob Dylan's song, "The Hurricane", which lyric is: "Oh my God they've killed them all."

When you read that upcoming post, you may be as shocked as I was at the similarities, in principle and otherwise, between the Jonestown mass suicide-murder and the ongoing murder-ecocide of current civilization.

Which, once again, is: MOMCOM leading current civilization down the same delusional path, the same direction, toward mass ecocide-mass murder to that destination where, in principle, Jones led "his civilization."

The next post in this series is here, the previous post in this series is here.

Yes, Jones of Jonestown went batshit crazy, which may have inspired a song.

The lyrics of the song in the video below, are here.

Investigative Word-Factory Daze - 2

On this date some years ago in the first post of this series, Dredd Blog considered  the dissatisfaction the public had with what the 1% had done during the previous Bush II regime.

We can now reflect, we can now ask ourselves the question "what has the current regime done about all that?"

The answer is: "nothing adequate or satisfactory to the justice demanded because of the despotic practices of all those years."

Anyway, here is the text of that post:

A while back we had a thread about the US losing guns, roses, bombs, money, computers, and who knows what else.

Now daze we seem to be blossoming into investigations. Investigations about losing money, sense of justice, sense of who we are, and on and on.

There are gonna be a lot of books and reports. Lotsa southern comfort. That is what investigations are designed to do. Deceive the public into thinking the government will handle it.

The government hasn't yet received the memo that since Katrina in the post Bush II world the investigative word game factory is less popular than the chastity belt.

The public knows we have lost our virginity already. Knows we have been screwed badly for years.

The public would like to see some real results, like crooks and liars in jail. Enough of this "where does it hurt" BS.

These investigative word factories are just polluting the air waves with toxic pabulum we don't need or want.

A "love affair" with fantasy is as old as ... disappointment?

If DHS listens to this song they may think these guys are gay company "turristttsss" since the meanings of words have changed in only ~45 years.

The Human Microbiome Congress

Wikipedia Image
Say what?

Never heard of the "human microbiome" much less The Human Microbiome Congress?

Perhaps, then, you are a new Dredd Blog System reader, so welcome!

According to leading microbiologists, a revolution has been taking place in biological science.

A revolution that has had such an impact on various disciplines that the phrase "issues once thought settled are up in the air" has been used to describe the emerging discoveries.

Some of the discoveries are equivalent to Einstein's theory of relativity in some ways, and others are greater discoveries than some major scientific discoveries we read about in our textbooks.

But before we get into further details of the discussion of this new realm of science, notice the overarching concept of the human microbiome:
Human Microbiome research has become one of the most exciting fields in biology, generating fascinating insights into the relations of microbes and man and the effects of our microbes on our health and well-being. World leading scientists will discuss the new findings, their impacts and the future trends at the next International Human Microbiome Congress ...
(The Human Microbiome Congress, emphasis added). There are various links to relevant posts within the Dredd Blog System, located on the Series Posts tabs at the top of the page.

These Dredd Blog System posts quote leading scientists and their papers to explain how each person is an ecosystem, composed mostly of microbe cells rather than mostly human cells:
... some 90 percent of the protein-encoding cells in our body are microbes ... 99 percent of the functional genes in the body are microbial ... exchanging messages with genes inside human cells ... microbes cohabitating our body outnumber human cells by a factor of 10, making us actually “superorganisms” that use our own genetic repertoire as well as those of our microbial symbionts ... We just happen to look human because our human cells are much larger than bacterial cells ... no matter how you look at it, it’s high time we acknowledge that part of being human is being microbial ...
(The Tiniest Scientists Are Very Old). That is just a first glimpse, so hang on, I am not through shocking you yet:
Microbes may indeed be subtly changing our brain early on — and for what purposes we cannot yet say ... the mere fact that microorganisms can shape our minds brings up many more questions about how humans develop their identity ... these findings call for a complete re-examination of human physiology and immunology. Attributes that were assumed to be human traits have been shown to result from human–microbe interactions.
(See A Structure RE: The Corruption of Memes, and Hypothesis: Microbes Generate Toxins of Power). With all that microbial genetic material, perhaps there was not so much of a need for "human" genetic material:
Some would say that genomics has been able to distil some humility into humankind. The finalised version of the human genome deprived us of the illusion that we are one of the most complex creatures on Earth — an illusion that was at the basis of some guesses that Homo sapiens was expected to have at least 100,000 genes. When we look at a table of genomes by species, and specifically at the number of genes that have been counted or estimated for each species, we notice that humans are surpassed by several plants and invertebrates.
(Nature, emphasis added). Will a yogi ask us someday "are you in touch with your inner microbe, and is your inner microbe in touch with you", and/or will we find that our mindless pollution of the world at large is the source of mental and physical disease?

Seriously reading these Dredd Blog System posts, which link to the central locations where these discoveries are being reported, will reveal to you how this blog tries to keep you posted on revolutionary scientific events.

MOMCOM's Mass Suicide & Murder Pact

The MOMCOM Problem
Regular bloggers in the Dredd Blog System have read the series about "The Virgin MOMCOM", beginning here, as well as the associated series "Jabber The Whut", beginning here.

In today's post we begin another associated series which will look at the evidence suggesting that MOMCOM is composed of entities that have formed what appears to be a classical mass suicide-murder pact.

The Dredd Blog System has consistently maintained that MOMCOM's behavior evinces a mental sickness, and has advocated that it be analyzed in that context.

Those series mentioned above were initiated, then extended, because the great bulk of analysis of MOMCOM is done through either a political, a criminal, or an educational lens, which only touches upon the surface, i.e., the prima facie aspects of the MOMCOM problem.

These somewhat shallow analyses have reached conclusions that have perplexed not only those who write them, but have also perplexed those who read those analyses.

That result happens, not because those analyses are false, but because they don't really, fully explain why anyone "in their right mind" would initiate such a scenario:
It’s no secret where this denialism comes from: the fossil fuel industry pays for it. (Of the 16 authors of the Journal article, for instance, five had had ties to Exxon.) Writers from Ross Gelbspan to Naomi Oreskes have made this case with such overwhelming power that no one even really tries denying it any more. The open question is why the industry persists in denial in the face of an endless body of fact showing climate change is the greatest danger we’ve ever faced.
(Why the Energy-Industrial Elite Has It In for the Planet, emphasis added). The perplexing result does, however, get to my point, which is that the officials of MOMCOM are not "in their right mind."

Thus, the need for deeper analysis, beyond legal, political, or educational, if any sort of viable solution is to be fashioned:
But should the bosses of polluting companies and the leaders of environmentally-unfriendly states join those responsible for mass murder in the dock. They could if a fifth crime against peace - ecocide - joined that list of human evils? The United Nations is now considering the proposal and the first test of how a prosecution for ecocide would work takes place on Friday, with fossil fuel bosses in the dock at the UK supreme court in London. It is a mock trial of course, but with real top-flight lawyers and judges and a jury made up of members of the public. The corporate CEOs will be played by actors briefed by their legal teams.
(Is 'Insanity' A Valid Defense To Ecocide?, emphasis added). I am not criticizing those analysts as far as their analysis goes, nor arguing that criminal prosecution is in error, I am merely asking them to deepen the scope of their work, so as to include a proper amount of the realm of psychology.

I am asking, then, for a shift of focus to an analysis of psychologically impaired people, who, in this case, are the officials of MOMCOM.

Those officials, who compose MOMCOM, should not be analyzed as mentally vibrant individuals, who are merely being "political", or "mischievous."

No, these are deeply, psychologically impaired individuals who have formulated a mass suicide pact, on a scale much larger than what has ever happened before:
The fact that some members held guns on the others and handled the syringes meant that what occurred in Jonestown was not only a mass suicide but also a mass murder. According to the witnesses, more than one member was physically restrained while being poisoned. A little girl kept spitting out the poison until they held her mouth closed and forced her to swallow it -- 276 children do not calmly kill themselves just because someone who claims to be God tells them to. A woman was found with nearly every joint in her body yanked apart from trying to pull away from the people who were holding her down and poisoning her. All 912 Peoples Temple members did not die easily.
(Truth About Jonestown, Psychology Today, emphasis added). In the end, if not prevented, it also involves the mass murder of current civilization.

To get a flavor for upcoming posts in this unfolding series, if you haven't already, watch the movie "The King's Speech", because environmentalists will essentially be playing the part of Dr. Lionel Logue (a "doctor" without papers) whose involvement actor Geoffrey Rush competently performs.

He helped a national leader to overcome a psychological problem, that had been imposed upon him from youth, while at the same time enabling that leader to more effectively lead his nation at a time of severe crisis.

In our current environmental crisis, it is not the officials of MOMCOM whom we can help out of their psychological problem (for, like Jim Jones, they are too far gone), rather it is the public at large that needs to know, to grasp, that their leaders are suicidal-ecocidal, and therefore, it is the people who must take the lead now.

The next post in this series is here.

The lyrics of the following song:

I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping
Still my guitar gently weeps.

I don't know why nobody told you
How to unfold your love
I don't know how someone controlled you
They bought and sold you.

I look at the world and I notice it's turning
While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my guitar gently weeps.

I don't know how you were diverted
You were perverted too
I don't know how you were inverted
No one alerted you.

I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
Look at you all...
Still my guitar gently weeps.
